If you have seen one of those little plastic hair brushes with the tiny bristles, and wondered why you'd need to brush the peach fuzz on your baby's head, that's because it's not actually for styling. These brushes are a way to stimulate and gently exfoliate the scalp. By regularly using the brush on your baby's head, you may be able to prevent the formation of cradle cap or seborrheic dermatitis.
The good news is, if your baby does develop scaly, yellow particles on their head, it's perfectly common and rarely uncomfortable. If it gets troubling, or you have concerns about the appearance, please call the office to set up an appointment or address it at your next well baby visit.
